And I'm Blogging!

Hmm...where to begin so early in the morning. I'll start out by saying thanks for stopping by. Your willingness to check out my blog tells me you are either really bored, curious, and/or you are somewhat interested in what I have to say. For my satisfaction I'll assume you are truly interested in me and my thoughts. If not, well then just lie and make me happy.

This is a relatively recent idea of mine. I first thought how it neat it would be to start a weblog about a week ago. If you really know me, than you know that this was a rather quick decision on my part. Some people do things on impulse, whereas I evaluate things first. A friend of mine, Brittanie, introduced me to MySpace a couple weeks ago. It's interesting, I like it to a certain extent. My wife, Heather, is flat out addicted to it. She plays around with her page just about every night now. As for my page, I immediately designed my page with Adam Morrison of the Gonzaga Bulldogs (Go Zags!) as well as a multitude of Pearl Jam videos. I doubt I will drastically change my layout anytime soon, aside from changing the videos I have on there. So in that regard, I guess I see myself as being limited towards what I want to do.

There are a couple other problems with MySpace. First of all, I can see the addiction to it and I'm not sure I want to go there. You can very easily waste the better part of an afternoon or evening playing around with it, whereas I can take 10-20 minutes on here to post my thoughts for the day and I'm done...more time for other stuff. Another problem is that it seems like the second coming of internet chain mail. What's worse is that a lot of the stuff that gets passed around seems interesting for say, a 15 year old girl, not a 23 year old male. Granted some things are interesting, but more often than not, I really don't care. In the end, there are probably twice as many things that I like about MySpace, but the few things I dislike really stand out for me.

More and more, I am becoming interested in writing my thoughts/views/rants/whatever. This is definitely new to me. Ask anyone I know and they'll say I never was interested in writing or reading (books in particular). However, being away from home, I have emailed to folks back home quite often. Whether it be, sports, weather, or something else, I probably email somebody back home something, almost every day. For several months though, it never occurred to me I should start a blog. Not until after I created a MySpace page and realized I could blog there, did my interest expand on the concept of blogging. Shortly afterwards I came across blogger.com and decided this would be the direction I want to go. Being away from so many, I want to communicate more, this seems like the perfect avenue for it. I just want to write about anything I feel like, as if I'm having a conversation with someone back home. This seems more ideal for that than MySpace. I'll probably post some sort of fun weekly blog on MySpace, but I think I'll update more often here (say every couple days).

I think I'll wrap things up now, I have a long day of studying ahead of me and need to get to it. My Mesoscale Meteorology test isn't until 2PM, but there's enough information on the test that I'll need to study pretty much all morning. Don't worry, I'll do fine on it. After all, it's weather!

Later folks.
